Verifying a Custom Domain for Email Sending

Activating a Custom Domain in Early Bird

Early Bird allows you to use your own custom domain when sending emails from our Shopify app (e.g. Back in Stock notifications or Pre-order Delayed emails).

To get started, open the Early Bird app and go to Settings.

Select I want to use my own domain and enter your From address you'd like to send from, then Save changes to start the domain verification process.

You will need to complete two steps to verify your From address.

First, you will receive an email to the address you entered (from Postmark), which will ask you to confirm your email. Click the confirm button to verify your address.

Second, you will need to add the DNS records to your DNS provider. If you're unsure where to do this, it is likely in the account where you registered your domain.

Once your email address is verified, and the DNS records have been added, click the Verify DNS records button to check that everything is setup correctly.

You should see a green Verified badge if everything is correct.

If it still says Unverified, please check your inbox for the confirmation email and make sure you click it.

If the badge says DNS Pending, it means one or more of your DNS records haven't been added correctly. Sometimes this can take a few minutes to propagate, so try checking back later if you're certain the records are correct.

Important Troubleshooting Information

One common mistake that gets made is to do with the Name of the records added. We provide the record name in full, which includes the domain name, e.g. XXXpm._domainkey.shopside.com.au

However a lot of DNS providers will automatically add this domain suffix for you, which means your actual record will end up repeating the domain name twice. If this is the case, try setting the record name to XXXpm._domainkey instead (removing the domain suffix).

Check for this same issue with all listed DNS records.
