How do I stop Early Bird discounts combining with my Shopify discounts?
If you're running both Early Bird discounts and Shopify store-wide discounts, you may notice that customers are receiving both discounts even when your Shopify discount is set to "not combine with other discounts."
How Early Bird discounts work with Shopify discounts
Early Bird discounts are applied separately from Shopify's native discount system. When you enable a discount in your Early Bird campaign, it operates independently of any Shopify discount codes or automatic discounts you have set up.
This means:
- Early Bird discounts will always apply to pre-order items when enabled
- Shopify discounts will apply according to their own settings
- The "cannot combine with other discounts" setting in Shopify doesn't prevent Early Bird discounts from applying
Setting up discounts in Early Bird
To add a discount to your pre-order campaign:
- Go to your Early Bird campaign settings
- Navigate to Purchase Options
- Check the Apply a discount checkbox
- Configure your discount amount or percentage
Existing Shopify discounts on pre-order products
If you want to use existing Shopify discounts on pre-order items instead of Early Bird's discount system, you'll need to configure them correctly in Shopify.
Why discounts combine
The combination happens because:
- Early Bird discounts are applied at the app level during checkout
- Shopify discounts are applied at the platform level
- These two systems don't communicate about discount exclusions
Preventing discount combinations
Unfortunately, there's no way to prevent Early Bird discounts from combining with Shopify discounts within the Early Bird app settings right now.
Possible solutions:
- Disable one discount type: Either turn off the Early Bird discount or disable your Shopify store-wide discount for pre-order products
- Adjust discount amounts: Account for potential combinations when setting your discount percentages
