Getting Started with Early Bird
Installing Early Bird
Early Bird can be installed from the Shopify App Marketplace and includes a free plan with zero commission fees across all tiers.
Configuring Early Bird
When you open Early Bird for the first time, you will see the setup guide, which has a simple one-click button to activate the app embed extension for your Shopify theme.
Click Activate app embed to auto-activate the extension for your theme. You must click Save to publish the change.
Note: If you’re using a vintage theme, some features might not be available. Please get in touch with us for assistance with setup.
Setup your first pre-order campaign on Shopify
Create a new pre-order campaign and fill out the details to get started. Publish your campaign to set it live.
Activate back orders for your Shopify store
Choose how to handle products when they’re out of stock. We recommend activating back-orders across your entire catalog if possible, to avoid lost sales when sold out.
You can exclude specific products if you don’t plan to restock them again.
You’ll also need to choose your inventory policy; we recommend letting Early Bird automatically set all your back order products to be set as “Continue selling when out of stock”.
Configure back in stock notifications for your Shopify store
Capture expressions of interest and waitlist signups for your sold out products, and automatically notify customers when you restock.
Customizing how Early Bird displays on your storefront
You can customize the styling and display of Early Bird’s components in the Display settings of Early Bird. Styles will be inherited from your Shopify theme automatically, but you can override certain styles to better match your theme as needed.
Some labels and messaging can be changed from here also.
Localize labels and messages
Ensure labels and messaging used by Early Bird are consistent with your store's brand, language and locale via the Localization settings.
Note: Some labels and messages relating to your storefront are located in Display settings, and others relating to emails are in Email Templates.
Activate extension to let customers manage their own pre-orders
Before offering pre-orders on your Shopify store, you’ll need to activate the Early Bird checkout extension. Learn more about the checkout extension.
